The function of quality control, through peer review, is critical for the research ecosystem and the scholarly communication system in particular. But the traditional practices of double blind peer review, and the associated functions of selection and gatekeeping, are no longer adequate, since many years for the digital world, and even more now, in the AI era.
So, it is very important to analyse and discuss the future of quality control/peer review.
