Lançamento do Programa INSPIRA – Retenção do Talento Feminino na Informática

Apresentação

Evento de lançamento do Programa INSPIRA. Trata-se de um programa de retenção de talento feminino na Informática baseado em ações de mentoria e outras de suporte ao desenvolvimento das trajetórias académicas de mulheres da comunidade estudantil e/ou científica a desenvolver a sua atividade na área da informática. 

O programa foi desenhado e está ser planeado no âmbito do Projeto SUPERA e da ação COST CA19122 – European Network For Gender Balance in Informatics (Alexandra Silva, DEI-UC).

Para além da apresentação do Programa INSPIRA por parte da equipa, o evento contará, na mesa de abertura, com a participação de elementos dos órgãos de gestão da UC/do DEI. Integrará também uma conferência, proferida por Geraldine Fitzpatrick, da Universidade Técnica de Viena, após a qual decorrerá uma mesa redonda dedicada à discussão em torno das” Perspetivas, experiências, e desafios para a retenção das mulheres na área da informática”.

Resumo da confereência a apresentar

As technology becomes increasingly implicated in every part of our lives, the consequences of poorly considered technology also become increasingly evident. To create digital futures we want to live in, we need all voices to be heard, all hands to contribute. Diversity matters. Towards this, gender is one of many aspects of diversity, not just in who is included but how they are included and how we engage with the challenges of diversity for building better futures. And towards inclusion, mentoring is a key way we learn together.

Nota biográfica

Geraldine Fitzpatrick is Professor of Technology Design and Assessment and leads the Human Computer Interaction Group in the Informatics Faculty at TU Wien. Her research is focussed on socio-technical and people-centred perspectives of computing. She is an ACM Distinguished Scientist, an IFIP Fellow, and an IFIP TC-13 Pioneer Award recipient. She has a diverse background, with a PhD in CS&EE (Uni of Queensland), an MSc in Applied Positive/Coaching Psychology (UEL), international experience in academia and industry in Austria, England and Australia, and a prior career as a nurse/midwife. She is passionate about how we can craft better academic cultures, hosts the Changing Academic Life podcast series, and delivers academic career and leadership development consultancy, training and coaching internationally.
