Maria de Fátima Nunes, Vice-Presidente do IHC e Professora Catedrática de História na Universidade de Évora, foi convidada para ser Académica Correspondente da Academia das Ciências de Lisboa, na sua Classe de Letras, Secção de História.
A Academia das Ciências de Lisboa é uma instituição científica de utilidade pública fundada em 1799, sendo uma das mais antigas instituições científicas nacionais de existência contínua. Tem como missão “o aconselhamento científico independente em matérias cruciais para o desenvolvimento do país”. Os Académicos Correspondentes são pessoas “que tenham produzido obra literária ou científica de reconhecido mérito e se encontrem em condições de prestar à Academia colaboração efectiva”.
Além do cargo que ocupa na Direcção do IHC, Maria de Fátima Nunes é ainda coordenadora do Grupo de Investigação em História da Ciência, da Tecnologia e do Ambiente e Directora do Programa de Doutoramento em História e Filosofia da Ciência na Universidade de Évora. A historiadora do IHC vê, assim, reconhecido o seu percurso académico e cívico na área da história da ciência e da cultura científica.
