Short-Term Research Grants FLAD / BNP

A Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal desenvolve, em parceria com a Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento, um programa de bolsas de investigação de curta duração.

O programa visa apoiar a investigação em temas de cultura portuguesa com base nas coleções da Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal e destina-se a investigadores com vínculo a instituições de ensino ou de investigação norte-americanas.

As bolsas concedidas em 2026 terão uma duração mínima de um (1) mês e máxima de três (3) meses. Cada bolseiro terá direito ao de € 750 (setecentos e cinquenta Euros), bem como a um subsídio mensal de € 1400 (mil e quatrocentos Euros).

O prazo de candidatura decorre até 1 de março de 2026. Os candidatos serão notificados do resultado até 31 de março de 2026.

As candidaturas devem ser apresentadas no https://www.bnportugal.gov.pt/images/stories/agenda/2026/form_flad_bnp_2026.pdf próprio, a que deve ser anexado curriculum vitae, o plano de investigação a realizar e período pretendido, o comprovativo da instituição à qual o candidato se encontra vinculado e cartas de referência abonatórias.

As candidaturas são apreciadas por uma comissão conjunta de representantes da BNP e da FLAD.

The National Library of Portugal (BNP) provides a programme of short-term research grants funded by the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD).

The program is addressed to researchers affiliated with US universities or US research institutions, regardless of their nationality, who wish to study the collections of the National Library of Portugal for research work in Portuguese history, culture and language.

The fellowships awarded in 2026 will be for periods between one (1) and three (3) months. Researchers will be entitled to a roundtrip ticket USA-Portugal, up to € 750,00 (seven hundred and fifty Euros), as well as a monthly allowance of € 1400,00 (one thousand and four hundred Euros).

Applications should be received no later than 1st March 2026. Applicants will be notified of the selection results until 31st March 2026.

Applications should be presented using the application https://www.bnportugal.gov.pt/images/stories/agenda/2026/form_flad_bnp_2026.pdf and sent by email to bolsas@bnportugal.gov.pt together with a document certifying the institutional affiliation, a detailed description of the research project, recommendation letters and, optionally, other relevant documentation.

Applications will be evaluated by a selection board consisting of three representatives of BNP and one representative of FLAD.
